I’m crossed that things aren’t going as well as I want them to. I failed to be firm on my deadlines for the various film edits and this is causing me the biggest stress. As a reminder: Bike was meant to be handed over to me on 27 03 2009. This didn’t happen. It’s 07 05 2009 now, and the locked video edit is still with Josh. I felt somewhat disappointed yesterday. People don’t seem to care about what happens after the video edit.
Now I’m thinking that I should have specialised both in sound and picture editing, just like Walter Murch. He does care about both image and sound. My year seems to be obsessed with the image even if it’s taking up time and resources from the sound.
I hate the way people treat me when I ask about the video exports. “It’s not yet ready” or “I left it at home” or “It’s nearly there” are the usual replies. This makes me think: okay, so why should I be stressing myself about this if you can’t be bothered to deliver on time for me? I’m talking about weeks of delay here. And no matter what I did (having safety barriers in my schedule) now they’re all gone. My iGoogle countdown shows: 15 days until hand-in.
Ben Burtt was right when he said that working in audio is just like being in a crushing machine. (He referenced a James Bond movie and Wall-e)
